I've just read on FB that there is a boycott for the match on Sunday.

Thats the first I've heard, I've heard a few say they aren't going because it clashes with some footy match or other, but not that anyone is boycotting the game.

I'll be there, will you??

ah yes, I understand that and that is why only one stand is opening.......but this post suggested it was because of the PH situation.

Dawn, you should know by now it doesnt take a lot for the "fans" to find a reason not to go to a game. Its cheap, its a rugby fix and its showing support, but lets not let that come into it!

I'll be there!

There where a few mentioning that!

Makes sense though. Club having to make redundancies so let's decrease their income... Probably the same people skating the Salford fans not turning up last week!

well what a great idea that is

come people get a grip just because a few people have lost their jobs who were nice to you once in the shop doesn't mean we should start the end of our club

people need to ask themselves do they support widnes or the people that worked for widnes

yes its sad that people have been moved on and i hope they find work quickly but really boycotting a match (yes only a friendly)

I imagine its a convenient excuse not to attend, but will like OB says, its a pre-season game against a club that we have no specific rivalry..  I expect if we'd have arranged a game against Leigh for instance more people would be interested

And you will get 45 minutes each way instead of 40.  But you will only get 11 players on the pitch instead of 13 and it will cost you more.

Football will never be a better game than Rugby League and I know, as I have seen 4 soccer matches in the last 60 years.

Boycott the game and Workington lose out - gate receipts go to Worky. galaxy grass roots  Roll Eyes.

Feel very, very sorry for big lad (I've been made redundant in the past) but boycotting the club will only hasten our return to the championship.

Small town, small minds.

The longer we're in SL, the more I feel we don't deserve it or SOC.

I'll be going watch Utd v L'pool then leave about 2:45pm to go the Rugby. Last fix before we head down to London in a few weeks.

Which stand is open is it just the South stand?

Well boycotting achieves nothing to be honest, as means less money and more jobs lost.I will watch Liverpool then may go the Widnes game, but i still have my Stronghold even though miss games.People here do not
know the finances of the club and the true reasons, as just seems sentiments here to be honest.I wish Paul all the best and if boycott we could have no club if no revenue and all will lose their jobs.

I certainly intend to be there, as I was away for Boxing Day so couldn't get to that game and I doubt I will be making the trip to Hudds!

I feel very sorry for anyone who loses their job and they have my sympathy, but I prefer to leave it at that, I dont know the ins and outs, as some claim to, nor would I want to speculate as to what benefit there may or may not be to the Club in taking such action, as I feel that is insensitive to the individuals affected. I just hope they can find some other employment as quickly as possible.
